Do you need breakthrough in your declarations?
My wife Wendy and I have been transformed by making declarations (faith statements about God’s promises for our lives). Much of what we are experiencing today is because of what we said 20 years ago. We spoke things higher than what we experiencing, and it changed our experience.
Even though we have gotten great breakthrough through declarations, there are still some areas where our experience has yet to catch up with our proclamations. It would appear that they are not working. I know we are not the only ones with this experience, as I have spoken with people who say, “Declarations are not working for me.”
If this is your experience, here are four things to consider to help you persevere in your declarations journey:
- Consider the Power of Spiritual Laws – Just are there are natural laws like the law of gravity that will work for everyone, there are spiritual laws that will work for everyone as well. Solomon discovered these laws and shared about them often in the book of Proverbs. Speaking life is a law of the spirit. It is impossible to speak life and not eventually see the effect of it.
- Consider Thermostats – We don’t say thermostats are not working if the temperature does not immediately match the degree to which we’ve set it. Again, if we are going to experience something greater, we will need to say something higher than what we are experiencing. Our words will set a new temperature of our lives (Proverbs 18:21; James 3:2-5).
- Consider Hearing Wisdom That Results From Your Declarations – We don’t have something just by saying something, but saying something is necessary to having something. When we start declaring God’s truths over an area of our lives, it gives the Holy Spirit something to work with. In Genesis 1, the Spirit was “hovering over the face of the deep” and only started turning disorder to order when He heard the Father’s declarations of “let there be light.” Part of the Spirit’s moving through our declarations was to give us ideas to bring the transformation we desire. This is called supernatural wisdom, and we should expect it.
- Consider Adjusting Your Declaration – Sometimes we don’t let God upgrade what we are saying. When we cooperate with Holy Spirit to inspire us to speak different phrases regarding an area of our life, we will find ourselves saying catalytic things to break any blockages to seeing God manifest in great ways.
“And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.” (Galatians 6:9).
